Group14 provided retro-commissioning services for eight Denver Public School projects totaling over 900,000 SF. Our process was used to troubleshoot equipment operation and lower energy use for existing schools. Group14 utilized SkySpark MBCx software to enhance the retro-commissioning process and monitor facilities over time. SkySpark monitoring helped to identify additional issues and refine operation.
Systems evaluated included central air handling units, make-up air units, energy recovery units, heat pumps (ground source and central boiler/cooling tower systems), heated and chilled water central plants, and a variety of zone level equipment.
Group14 identified over $250,000/year in energy savings, around 20% of the total energy cost for the schools evaluated. Beyond energy savings, Group14 helped to improve the comfort and indoor air quality for the occupants, which is vital in a school environment.
“The AC has been cycling on and off, high and low, just like it’s supposed to, for the last two weeks. I couldn’t be happier and I almost feel like a new person!”
