Group14 provided fundamental, enhanced and monitoring-based commissioning for Metropolitan State University’s 142,000 SF Aerospace and Engineering Sciences Building. The state-of-the art facility houses Metro State’s programs in Aerospace Sciences, Computer Science, Engineering Technology, Industrial Design and Physics. The building also provides space for courses related to Colorado’s current push to promote STEM education.

The LEED Gold facility contains Colorado’s only centralized High-Bay Advanced Manufacturing Hall. The building also features a highly flexible lab that visually connects all three levels of the building. Finally, the building includes a series of smaller student support breakout labs for specialized materials testing, clean room use, and robotics.

The systems commissioned included Mechanical HVAC&R, Plumbing, Life‐Safety Systems, Advanced Energy Metering, Power & Electrical Systems, and Lighting Control Systems/ Lighting Control Devices.

RESULTS:

The AES Building experienced a number of unique temperature and pressure issues, and Group 14 was able to leverage SkySpark to trace the issues back to the time and location where those issues occurred– resolving the problem.

In 2019, Group14 was one of three recipients to receive an award for commissioning excellence from the Building Commissioning Association in the New Construction category for our work on the Metro State project.
